    I was wary of the bad reviews, but the battery wasn’t difficult to replace in the Nest & the new one charged and held a charge properly. Ultimately I figured out that the furnace installers did not re-connect the “control wire” which is usually blue, and that was the cause of all my thermostat troubles. The control wire is key to make modern or smart thermostats work properly. That may be a reason for some complaints - if you have a short in the control wire, or faulty wiring in your furnace or hvac system, your smart thermostat is not going to the power to charge and work properly.

    Replaced battery in my Nest thermostat that was five years old. I had to charge the new battery overnight and it works just fine. Comes with a screwdriver which is needed to install the battery.
