    This cable replaces one that came with my Lumix DMC-ZS3 camera, which was misplaced - I need it when my PC won't recognize my SD card, when I want to transfer photos to the PC. It works fine. The camera connection is apparently unique to Panasonic Lumix.

  4. It works, although not quite like the OEM version

    I purchased this cable as a backup to the OEM cable that came with the camera. This MPF Products version is 1.5 meter long, while the Panasonic OEM version is 1 meter long. The camera immediately recognized the proprietary micro-USB connector, but it took a bit of fiddling for the computer to recognize the USB-A connector being plugged in. On the first try -- nothing. About the second or third try it recognized it and I was able to see the image thumbnails in my file manager and transfer files from the camera to the computer. Thereafter, it seems to connect reliably every time; perhaps it was just a bit of residue from the cable molding process that interfered with the first attempts.

    The USB-A plug fit was very snug and it required a surprisingly high force to mate with the USB-A sockets on my computer and a USB hub. It would be very vibration-proof, if that were a criterion for the cable, but because it is only used for brief periods to transfer image files between the camera and a computer, it should mate more easily. The proprietary micro-USB connector at the camera end feels just like the OEM version, so it shouldn't cause excess wear-and-tear on the camera's USB socket.

    Cables generally either work or they don't; this one does. Mostly I'm grateful to the seller for getting it to me so quickly. I misplaced the original a few days before I moved, ordered this with the expedited shipping and it arrived in just a few days.
