Battery for Apple iPhone 5 A1428, A1429.

Necessary Replacement Parts:

Necessary Replacement Tools:

Please Note: Above tools are included for FREE when this replacement battery is purchased from MPFProducts.com.

Step 1

  • Power off your iPhone.
  • Remove the (2) pentalobe screws located on both sides of the lightning connector. Place the screws in a safe location for reassembly later.

Step 2

  • Press suction cup to the screen above the home button.
  • Be sure the suction cup is pressed securely and has a tight seal.

Step 3

  • Hold the iPhone down with one hand, and pull up on the suction cup so the front panel assembly slightly separates from the back case.
  • The front panel has a tight fit, so be sure to take your time and apply constant, firm pressure. Using a plastic opening tool, gently pry the back case away (down) while continuing to pull up with the suction cup.
  • There are clips that hold the front panel to the back case so you may need to use the suction cup along with the plastic opening tool to free the clips and the front panel.

Step 4

  • Using the plastic opening tool, continue prying around the outside of the front assembly detaching the clips along the left and right sides.

Step 5

  • Pull the (home button) end of the front panel away from the rear case, take caution and use the top of the phone as a hinge. Do not try to completely remove the front panel from the rear. There are several cables attached at the top of the phone.
  • PLEASE NOTE: When doing this step you want to keep the front panel supported at a 90º angle (in relation to the rear case) until you remove it. If you allow it to fall flat this will strain the display cables and their connections on the logic board and possibly result in damage or device issue.

Step 6

  • Remove the three Phillips screws securing the front panel cable bracket, we suggest labeling and placing items in a safe area for accurate reassembly later:
  • 2- 1.2 mm screws (shown below in red)
  • 1 - 1.6 mm screw (shown below in orange)

Step 7

  • Carefully remove the front panel assembly bracket from the logic board. Tweezers may make removal of the bracket easier, place in a safe area for reassembly.

Step 8

During the next steps be careful to only pry upwards on the cable connectors. Do not pull or pry on the sockets on the logic board.

Use the flat end of a plastic opening tool or spudger to disconnect the below three cables:

  • Front-facing camera and sensor
  • LCD
  • Digitizer

PLEASE NOTE: Be careful when reassembling your phone as the LCD data cable has been known to pop off of its connector. This will result in a blank screen or white lines across the screen when you power your device back on. If this occurs simply reconnect the cable and power cycle your phone. The best way to power cycle your phone is to disconnect and then reconnect the battery connector

Step 9

  • Remove the front panel from the rear case.

Step 10

  • On the rear case, remove the one 1.8mm screw (show in red) and one 1.6mm screw (shown in orange) to release the metal battery connector bracket - label and place in a safe area for reassembly.

Step 11

  • Remove the metal battery connector bracket.

Step 12

  • Using a plastic opening tool, gently pry upward on the battery connector to release it from the socket on the board.

Step 13

In some instances it may be possible to remove the battery from the phone simply by pulling on the plastic pull-tab. Pull slowly and continuously until the battery is free, if this is not an option proceed with the below steps to free the battery.

  • Using a plastic opening tool, gently pry the battery upwards only at the below shown points. Otherwise you may cause damage to the board. Do not use too much pressure and be careful when inserting the plastic tool you do not damage the underlying board or puncture the battery itself.

Step 14

  • If needed, use the clear plastic pull-tab to peel the battery off the adhesive which secures it to the phone.
  • When you have safely removed any adhesive, remove the battery from your iPhone.

Once the old battery is removed, replace with your

(pictured below) and follow steps in reverse order to reassemble. Use double-sided tape to replace the adhesive strips during reassembly.
