Necessary Replacement Parts:

Necessary Replacement Tools:

Note: Above tools are included for FREE when this replacement battery is purchased from MPFproducts.com.

Step 1

  • Power off your iPhone 4s.
  • Remove the (2) pentalobe screws located on both sides of the dock connector. Place the screws in a safe location for reassembly later.

Step 2

  • Push the rear cover upwards toward the top end of the iPhone. It should move up about 2mm.

Step 3

  • Grasp/Pinch the rear case with your fingers and remove it from the front of the iPhone. Be careful not to break or damage the plastic clips that are on the rear cover during this step.

Step 4

  • Remove the Phillips screws which secures the battery connector to the board. The orange circle is a 1.5mm Phillips screw and the red is a 1.7mm Phillips screw.

Step 5

  • Using one of the plastic opening tools, gently detach the battery connector from its socket on the board. You want to start lifting the connector from the bottom side. Place the tip of a plastic tool between the loudspeaker enclosure and the connectors metal cover. The connector will lift off vertically from the board, do not apply pressure or force sideways.
  • Take caution as the pressure contact is underneath the top screw of the battery connector. This may come loose while you are removing the battery connector from its socket.

Step 6

  • Use a plastic opening tool to pull the pressure contact from underneath the battery connector. Note the position of the small, black ground clip on the upper screw. This clip is attached only by the upper screw, when you are reinstalling it must be aligned so the (gold) contact point will press against the back cover.
  • Be careful you do not remove or pull off the battery connector that is soldered to the board.

Step 7

  • Insert an edge of a plastic opening tools between the battery and the outside case near the bottom of your phone. Run the tool along the right edge of the battery and pry upwards at several points to separate the adhesive that secures the battery to the case.

Step 8

  • Use the clear plastic pull tab to peel the battery off from the phone and remove it from your phone. Do not use too much force as it could rip the pull tab off.

Once the old battery is removed, replace with your:

PLEASE NOTE: Before reconnecting the battery connector be sure the contact clip is in the proper position next to the battery connector. You may also want to consider cleaning the metal to metal contacts with a de-greaser (such as Windex or isopropyl alcohol) to remove any possible oils left by your fingers as they have been know to cause potential wireless interference.
