How to Replace the 170-1012-00 S11S01A S11S01B Battery in a Kindle 2

Use this detailed step-by-step repair guide to help you replace the battery in your Kindle 2

Necessary Replacement Parts (PLEASE BE SURE YOU SELECT THE CORRECT BATTERY FOR YOUR KINDLE 2 MODEL):

• New S11S01A 170-1012-00 Replacement Battery For Amazon Kindle 2 (MODELS D00511, D00701 & DX D00801)
• New S11S01B Replacement Battery For Amazon Kindle 2 (D00511 & DX D00611 WHITE MODELS ONLY)

Necessary Replacement Tools:

• Precision Small Phillips #00 Screwdriver
• Plastic Opening Tools

Note: Above tools are included for FREE when this replacement battery is purchased from MPFproducts.com.

Step 1

• Place your Kindle screen side down on a soft cloth to protect the screen.
• Using a plastic opening tool, insert the tool between the metal casing and the gray plastic.
• Move the tool across the opening while apply pressure downward to separate the gray plastic from the metal casing.
• Slide the gray plastic piece away from the Kindles casing and remove it.

Step 2

• Remove the (2) screws using the Phillips #00 screwdriver and keep in a safe place.

Step 3

• Locate the three clips that hold the metal case in place. Use the plastic opening tool to push down and pry towards the metal casing to release each clip.
• Remove the metal casing.
• The volume control button rests in a slot on the side of the Kindle. When the metal casing is removed, the volume control button may fall out. When reassembling, place the volume control button back into its slot.

Step 4

• Use the Phillips #00 screwdriver to remove the (2) screws that hold the battery in place.

  

Step 5

• Pry upward under the black tab with a plastic opening tool to dislodge the battery.
• Use your fingers to lift the battery out of the device.
